Sasanami-gumi got its name from the formation of the braids that look like ripples on the surface of the water. This method has a very long history and has examples in the treasures dedicated to Horyuji Temple and the Shosoin Treasures.
Although it is a high-level braiding experience with a large number of braids, you can try it out under the guidance of a craftsman.
