front and back

We will introduce the front and back stitches of the obijime (crown group).

Kumihimo basically has a front side and a back side, and when it is used as an obijime, we believe that it is more beautiful if the front side appears neatly.

There are no front and back sides for square and round groups such as Nara-gumi and Kakuhatsu-gumi.

Every day, we help our customers with matching obis, but I feel that many people think that flat cords are more difficult to tie. However, I think that there are many people who actually tie it by mistake, in fact, it is the kanmuri gumi shown in the photo.

about30~35A year ago, I sewed a name tag of "Domei" on the back of the taiko drum. One hand may be on the back (photo2second)

Domyo's Kampan-gumi is a group that has a crease in the center of the front and splits at that point, and the back has crossing and does not split.

It may be difficult to notice mistakes, so it may be a braiding method that you do not have the opportunity to correct. Flat cords are easier to understand and are better suited for practicing tying knots, so if you use the same way of thinking and tying knots as with flat cords, you will be able to tie them beautifully.

Regarding the overlapping of the strings from the knot, in the case of Kamakumi, basically, the strings overlap from the knot to the ends of both hands, and we think that it is beautiful to tighten it as a single string.

If you have any problems with strings, such as knots or the front and back of strings, please feel free to contact us at the shop.
